Search Continues for Idaho Man Who Fell in Kootenai River

Lincoln County Sheriff says 41-year-old man was swept down river near Troy

Search and rescue teams are looking for a 41-year-old Idaho man who fell into the Kootenai River near Troy on Tuesday and has not been seen since.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Trevor Applegate fell into the river on Dec. 6 shortly after 5 p.m. and was quickly swept downstream. A search was quickly organized but crews were unable to find the man before calling it quits late Monday night.

The search continued Tuesday morning with boats, ground searchers and even camera-equipped drones but so far they’ve come up empty handed. High-river flows, cold temperatures and icy conditions have all hampered search efforts, according to authorities.
