Climate Smart Seeking Nominations for Awards

Community partnership is accepting nominations through March 24

By Tristan Scott

Climate Smart Glacier Country’s first annual Climate Smart Champion Awards will recognize businesses, youth and individuals who are creating local solutions to the challenges posed by climate change.

The community partnership is accepting nominations through March 24. Winners will be announced at the Flathead Earth Day Celebration on April 22.

Climate Smart Glacier Country was formed in 2016 as a public-private partnership between local businesses, schools and organizations, Glacier National Park and the city of Whitefish.

“Glacier National Park is a poster child for climate change,” said Glacier National Park Superintendent Jeff Mow. “We’re seeing it in large landscape shifts like melting glaciers and a dramatic increase in wildfire over the past 25 years.  The science clearly indicates that these trends will continue. Our visitors expect the park and local communities to step up and be part of the solution.”

Nomination forms are available at ClimateSmartGlacierCountry.org.
