Fireworks and Freedom

8 a.m. Some Bigfork residents kicked off Independence Day by blowing up a mailbox with a sparkler bomb.

12:02 p.m. A man staying in Marion was trying to make a long distance call but dialed 911 instead.

12:19 p.m. Some road signs were damaged in Bigfork.

1:15 p.m. A dog was chasing boats in the Flathead River.

5:36 p.m. Someone lost a gun and a backpack on the river.

5:48 p.m. A local resident was concerned about all the traffic.

6:03 p.m. A Kalispell resident called police with concerns that the man selling fireworks down the street was doing a lousy job of watching his kids, one of whom ran onto the highway.

7:02 p.m. A Bigfork man, who was possibly high, was hiding under a neighborhood deck.

7:23 p.m. A firework struck a child.

7:38 p.m. A donkey was in the road in Martin City.

8:50 p.m. Some youths were jumping off a local highway bridge and causing a traffic jam. The kids were told to cut it out.

9:42 p.m. An RV parked near Essex for over a month is slowly being parted out.

10:03 p.m. Some Bigfork residents were shooting off fireworks under a tree.

11:52 p.m. A fireworks salesman said there was a man hanging outside his fireworks stand who refused to leave. The salesman had locked himself in the stand with a pile of cash and a gun and was waiting for law enforcement to show up and help move the man along.
