GREAT FALLS — The Cascade County attorney’s office has released the names of two Great Falls police officers who were involved in the fatal shooting of a burglary suspect.

The Great Falls Tribune reports officers Tad Kimmet and Adam Stergionis have been on paid leave since the Sept. 11 shooting. Officials did not say which officer or if both officers shot 25-year-old Thomas Jordan Addison.

The state Division of Criminal Investigation has said officers encountered Addison apparently trying to break into a house. Addison fled and brandished a weapon, prompting the fatal gunfire.

Officials have not said what type of weapon Addison had, but have said one was found.

Kimmet shot a man in April after he refused orders to drop a knife that he was holding at a woman’s throat. The man is charged with kidnapping and assault.
