Students Release Calendar to Benefit Humane Society

Stillwater Christian School eighth-graders Jillian Wynne and Faith Blackaby have once again produced a desk calendar for a good cause – this time to benefit homeless animals.

The two girls have gathered stories about cat and dog rescues and interviewed those people who have adopted the animals from a local shelter.

The calendar is called “Second Chances” and each page features pictures of previously sheltered animals and the story of the owners who rescued them. Many of the stories are heart-wrenching, such as that of Thunder, a cat who was found with his siblings “in an abandoned bucket trying to be drowned.” Thunder has made a full recovery and has since lived with his new owner for the last eight years.

This is the second time the girls have made a calendar. Last year, Faith and Jillian interviewed veterans about their lives of service and raised nearly $2,500 for the local veterans’ food pantry. All proceeds from the 2018 calendar will be given to the Humane Society of Northwest Montana.

The calendars are $10 and can be purchased at the Humane Society, The Dog Club in Kalispell and Electric Avenue Gifts in Bigfork. Or, email Jillian at [email protected], or call (406) 471-1177. There is an additional $3 charge to ship the calendar.
