A Kalispell man was arrested on assault charges following a standoff with law enforcement on May 4.
Ronald Millard Smith Jr., 36, has been charged with partner/family member assault following an incident on Silverleaf Drive in Kalispell.
According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, law enforcement responded to the scene of an assault shortly before 6 p.m. When they arrived they saw Smith and the victim in front of a house. Smith ran through the house and into a small camper where he barricaded himself.
The Flathead County SWAT team was called in and tried to get Smith to come out peacefully. After about three hours, the SWAT team fired tear gas into the camper. Smith ran out of the camper and was taken into custody peacefully.
