BOZEMAN — A 47-year-old Montana man is scheduled to go on trial next year on charges that he killed his estranged wife and severely injured her roommate.
The Bozeman Chronicle reports that Joseph Paul DeWise is charged with deliberate homicide in the death of 32-year-old Lauren Walder DeWise last January in Belgrade. He also faces an attempted deliberate homicide charge for the shooting of 32-year-old Ashley Van Hemert.
He has pleaded not guilty.
The trial set for Feb. 19 will be before Gallatin County District Court Judge Holly Brown.
DeWise, of Bozeman, remains in the Gallatin County jail on $1 million bail.
