Police: Drugs Possible Motive in Shooting at Missoula School

Court records say one teen was shot in the chest and the other on the left side of his face

MISSOULA — Two boys who were shot near a Missoula high school last weekend told investigators the suspect asked them if they wanted to buy drugs and asked where he could get drugs.

Court records say one teen was shot in the chest and the other on the left side of his face.

The boy who was shot in the chest said he and the other victim met the suspect while they were walking from the mall toward Sentinel High School on Sunday. When the boys tried to walk away they said the suspect started to take a gun from his waistband. They fought with him but he was able to get the gun and shot them.

Officers have a warrant to arrest the 17-year-old suspect on a charge of assault with a weapon.
