Glacier Twins Finish Third at Keith Sell Tournament

Class A Twins topple Helena Senators AA in third-place game

By Andy Viano

Nathan Hader tossed five solid innings and Ryan Veneman had a pair of hits to lead the Glacier Twins A to a 3-2 win against the Helena Senators AA on July 1 to claim third place at the 23rd annual Keith Sell Tournament at Kindrick Field in Helena.

The Twins finished 3-2 at the four-day tournament, rebounding from back-to-back losses on Friday and Saturday with Sunday’s win over the host team. Hader allowed five hits and walked just one on Sunday before giving way to Zach Veneman for the final two innings. Ryan Veneman did most of the offensive damage from the leadoff spot, going 2-for-4 with what would prove to be the game-winning RBI single in the fourth inning.

Glacier (10-9) opened the tourney with a pair of wins on Thursday, dropping Butte 12-4 and Spokane 10-6. The Twins had won six straight games before falling to the Great Falls Chargers Friday in Helena.

The Lethbridge Elks won the tournament, beating the Chargers 8-4 in the championship game.
