With a little more than a week remaining in the regular season, the Kalispell Lakers AA team may have found its stride at just the right time.

Kalispell finished a perfect 5-0 week at home with a three-game sweep of the Great Falls Chargers, July 13-14 at Griffin Field, improving to 11-6 in Montana/Alberta American Legion league games. The Lakers also took a pair from the Billings Scarlets at home on July 10.

On Friday, the Lakers dumped the Chargers 6-4 and 10-7 in a doubleheader, finishing off the sweep Saturday with a 4-1 victory. Great Falls mustered just two hits on Saturday against Kalispell’s Drew Scherrer after the Lakers’ offense carried the load on Friday behind Taylor Morton (4-for-7, 4 RBIs) and Randy Stultz (2-for-6, 4 RBIs).

The Class AA Montana/Alberta American Legion state baseball tournament will be played at Griffin Field, beginning July 28.
