Hikers Find Body Near Gates of the Mountains Wilderness

The body was badly decomposed and may have been in the area for a week or longer

GREAT FALLS — Authorities say a badly decomposed body has been found near the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness in Montana.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton tells KFBB-TV that the body was badly decomposed and may have been in the area for a week or longer.

Dutton says the condition of the body makes it difficult to determine the person’s age or gender.

The body was found to the north of the wilderness area on Friday evening by two hikers.
