Job Openings

By

6:24 a.m. A driver was “screwing around” in Columbia Falls.

6:59 a.m. A state trooper in South Carolina called to inquire about job opportunities at the sheriff’s office. Apparently one detail he hadn’t researched about the prospects of moving to Montana is the two-hour time difference.

7:32 a.m. A Kalispell woman called to report that her car was stolen. She also asked if it was OK that she did not have the actual title to the vehicle.

9:12 a.m. A reckless driver was reported in Columbia Falls. It’s unclear if it was the same guy who was “screwing around” earlier in the morning.

9:23 a.m. A Hungry Horse man had some ammo he wanted to get rid of.

9:27 a.m. The state trooper from South Carolina was so excited about finding a job in Montana that he called back to see if a job had opened up in the three hours since he last called. The dispatcher told him it might take a little time for that to happen.

10:50 a.m. A burglary alarm went off in Kalispell. It turned out to be a false alarm. The owner of the alarm thought the ceiling fan was to blame.

11:32 a.m. An “agitated man” was running around the neighborhood with a gun.

12:12 p.m. Cash and electronics were stolen from a Kalispell garage.

12:24 p.m. A Kalispell woman called to file an animal cruelty complaint. She then complained that she felt like the dispatcher was trying to rush her off the phone. The dispatcher said there were a lot of calls coming in, some of which were more important than hers. The woman suggested they hire more dispatchers.

12:41 p.m. A Kalispell resident found a bag of drugs.

2:42 p.m. Two horses were running down the street.

2:59 p.m. A boater butt-dialed 911 from a boat in Flathead Lake. The dispatcher talked to the butt-dialing captain for a few moments to ensure that there were no emergencies. The man had nothing to report other than they were having a good time.

3:03 p.m. A Columbia Falls teen allegedly stole his girlfriend’s truck.

3:54 p.m. A Kalispell man faxed a complaint to the sheriff’s office about the “drug house” in his neighborhood. He said he was sick and tired of no one doing anything about it, particularly because “every cop in the county knows about it.”

6:40 p.m. Two guys had passed out drunk in their truck and were apparently blocking the boat launch.

6:45 p.m. A Kalispell man called 911 because his truck wouldn’t start. He said he tried AAA but they hadn’t shown up yet.

8:51 p.m. A skinny dog was found.

10:51 p.m. A 16-year-old was causing a ruckus in Kalispell.

11:25 p.m. A Kalispell man who appeared to be “on something” was wandering around town without shoes.
