Two people were killed in a head-on crash north of Glacier Park International Airport on Thursday.

According to Montana Highway Patrolman Jerry Ren, the collision occurred shortly after 4 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and Conn Road. A 27-year-old man from Kalispell was driving east in a 2008 Chevy Silverado pickup truck at speeds up to 95 miles per hour when the vehicle crossed into the opposing lane and struck a westbound vehicle driven by a 56-year-old woman from South Carolina. The two vehicles immediately caught fire after the collision.

Prior to the collision, the 2008 Chevy Silverado was reportedly swerving all over the road.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was identified as Linda M. Turner, 56 years of age, from Sumter South Carolina. Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said the identity of the 27-year-old Kalispell man was being held until family had been notified.
