Glacier High School graduate Teigan Avery finished tied for third at the Montana Women’s State Amateur Tournament, July 26-28 at Missoula Country Club.

Avery shot 77-74-75 to finish 13-over par (226), three shots behind winner Morgan O’Neil. Avery was the defending tournament champion, having won the State Amateur title last year at Laurel Golf Club by five strokes. Avery finished second in the same event in 2016.

This fall, Avery will begin her junior season at the University of Montana, looking to build off a strong finish to her sophomore season with the Griz. Avery finished 20th at the Big Sky Conference Tournament in April to finish a stretch of 10 straight rounds of 77 or lower.

In high school, Avery won the Class AA state championship as a sophomore and junior. She was the runner-up at the state tournament as a freshman and senior.
