Man Struck and Killed by Car Near Kootenai Falls

Victim was apparently lying in the middle of U.S. 2 when he was struck early Thursday

A 34-year-old Libby man was struck and killed by a car on U.S. Highway 2 near Kootenai Falls in Lincoln County early Aug. 9.

According to Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe, Chance Robert Hilliard was apparently lying in the westbound lane of the highway at 2:30 a.m. when a vehicle hit him. Bowe said it’s unclear why the man was in the road.

The Montana Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
