Fresh off an appearance at the U.S. Amateur in Pebble Beach, California, Libby High School phenom Ryggs Johnston shot an 8-under 64 to run away with the Whitefish Invitational Tournament at Whitefish Lake Golf Club’s North Course.

Johnston, a three-time state champion, was 12 shots better than any other golfer, boy or girl, in the competition. Whitefish’s Cameron Kahle, Hamilton’s Zach Taylor and Polson’s Trey Kelley tied for second in the boys tournament at 4-over (76). Hamilton won the team title (308), just head of Polson (316).

In the girls competition, Whitefish won the team title (407) with Polson (415) second. Macee Greenwood of Corvallis easily took home medalist honors with an 80. Libby’s Sammee Bradeen (95) was second, followed by Whitefish’s Ella Shaw (97).
