Postseason Soccer Begins in Class A

Play-in matches for final spots in Class A state tournament set for Oct. 9

The Columbia Falls girls and Whitefish boys won Northern A conference regular season championships, locking in berths in the eight-team Class A state tournament.

The Wildkats (8-3-0, 6-2-0 Northern A) won a three-way tiebreaker atop the conference to claim the league title ahead of Whitefish (7-5-0, 6-2-0) and Polson (7-4-1, 6-2-0). The Bulldogs and Pirates will play each other at Smith Fields in Whitefish on Oct. 9, with the winner advancing to the tournament. Columbia Falls will host Laurel in the quarterfinal round on Oct. 13 while the winner of Whitefish-Polson will take on Hamilton the same day.

The Whitefish boys (11-0-1, 7-0-1) will be at home against Livingston in the state quarterfinals on Oct. 13 while Polson (10-1-1, 6-1-1) will host Columbia Falls (5-6-0, 4-4-0) in a play-in match on Oct. 9. The winner of Polson-Columbia Falls plays Missoula Loyola in the quarterfinals.
