Madde Boles put down 16 kills and Julia Burden added 15 more to help Flathead hand top-ranked Helena its first conference loss of the season Oct. 13 at Helena High School.

The Bravettes (13-10, 7-3 Western AA) won 24-26, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 15-8 to salvage a split in a weekend series against the league’s top two teams. Helena Capital (19-2, 9-1) bested the Bravettes in four sets on Thursday. In the latest Class AA coaches poll, released Oct. 16, the Bravettes were ranked third in the state behind the two Helena schools.

Glacier (7-15, 2-8) came up short against both Helena (18-3, 9-1) and Capital, falling to both squads in three sets.

Flathead, Glacier, Columbia Falls and Whitefish will all take part in the two-day Missoula Invitational Oct. 18-19.
