MISSOULA — Prosecutors have dropped charges against a Montana teen who made threats against his school following the Parkland, Florida school shooting.
The Missoulian reports that the Ravalli County Attorney’s office dismissed the charges against MacLean William Keyser earlier this month, clearing the way for him to enlist in the U.S. Marines.
The high school senior told investigators that he intended his social media posts in February as a joke. According to court documents, the honor roll student and football player expressed remorse for the trouble he caused in the community.
County attorney Bill Fulbright says he consulted with a number of people about how to proceed and decided it was in the best option for the community and Keyser to allow him to join the military.
