GREAT FALLS — A Montana man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the beating death of a man on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.
The Great Falls Tribune reports 35-year-old Errol Longee entered the plea to the lesser charge Monday in federal court.
Longee was indicted on a second-degree murder charge in April in the July 2017 death of 42-year-old Patrick Mitchell, whose body was found behind a convenience store in Poplar.
According to court documents, Longee and Mitchell were with a group of people at a house in Poplar. A woman later began punching Mitchell, and Longee also started attacking him.
An autopsy determined Mitchell’s death was caused by “multiple blunt force injuries and neck compression.”
Longee is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
