HELENA — Montana officials are forecasting that state tax collections will increase each year through 2021.
Gov. Steve Bullock’s Office of Budget and Program Planning and the Legislative Fiscal Division released separate revenue estimates this week.
State lawmakers will use the forecasts to plan Montana’s next two-year budget when the legislative session begins in January.
Both offices predict state revenue increasing from $2.4 billion for the financial year that ended June 30 to about $2.6 billion in 2021.
The Legislative Fiscal Division officials predict the money coming into the state treasury will increase at a steady rate of between 2 to 3 percent per year.
The governor’s office estimates slower growth this year that will speed up to between 3 and 4 percent over the next two years.
