Authorities Identify Victim of Deadly Car Fire

Conrad Peak, 77, was victim of fire that engulfed vehicle near Lion Lake in Hungry Horse area

Authorities have identified the man who died after a fire engulfed his vehicle in the Hungry Horse area on Dec. 8 as Conrad Peak, a 77-year-old transient who was living in his 2006 Ford Escape when it became engulfed in flames due to unknown circumstances, officials said Tuesday.

According to Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, Peak was last known to have lived in Texas.

Officers discovered Peak’s remains after receiving a report of a vehicle fully on fire in the woods near Lion Lake. The Flathead County Fire Investigation Team responded to the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The case is under investigation, and the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone with information to call the detective division at 406-758-5600 or Crimestoppers at 406-752-8477.
