Flooded Homes Evacuated Along North Dakota-Montana Border

About 50 homes have been evacuated near Cartwright, North Dakota, and Fairview, Montana

CARTWRIGHT, N.D. — Dozens of homes have been evacuated due to flooding on the Yellowstone River in western North Dakota and eastern Montana.

The National Weather Service says ice jams go on for miles along the Yellowstone to its confluence with the Missouri River.

About 50 homes have been evacuated near Cartwright, North Dakota, and Fairview, Montana. Highway 200 between the two communities has been closed. Floodwaters also caused a small oil spill into the river when they swamped a well pad where oil-contaminated soil hadn’t been fully cleaned up.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum and other emergency officials planned to visit the area Wednesday and meet with displaced homeowners.
