GREAT FALLS – A Montana woman was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the stabbing death of her domestic partner.

The Great Falls Tribune reported Wednesday that 42-year-old Linda Roseann Christianson received the maximum sentence for the fatal 2017 stabbing of 41-year-old Steven Fletcher in Great Falls.

The newspaper reports that a judge sentenced Christianson on Wednesday to 40 years for mitigated deliberate homicide and 10 years for tampering with evidence.

The newspaper reports Christianson was also ordered to pay $3,692 in restitution.

Police say Fletcher was in the process of leaving Christianson and that she had made threats toward him at the time of the homicide.

Authorities say Christianson was originally charged with deliberate homicide and tampering with evidence after police discovered inconsistencies in her claim that Fletcher killed himself.
