State Auditor Rosendale Announces for U.S. House

This is the third time he has sought to become a member of the state's congressional delegation

HELENA — State Auditor Matt Rosendale is running for Montana’s open U.S. House seat — the third time he has sought to become a member of the state’s congressional delegation.

Rosendale’s announcement on Monday came three days after U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte said he was seeking the Republican nomination for governor of Montana.

As auditor and insurance commissioner, Rosendale says he worked to lower prescription drug costs and brought fiscal discipline to his office and would do the same in Congress.

Secretary of State Corey Stapleton on Saturday left the crowded governor’s race to run for U.S. House.

Rosendale and Stapleton sought Montana’s U.S. House seat in 2014, losing to eventual winner Ryan Zinke in the primary.

Rosendale was elected state auditor in 2016 and unsuccessfully challenged Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Tester in 2018.
