BUTTE – A motorhome went off Interstate 15 and into the Big Hole River in southwestern Montana, killing a 79-year-old man from Redding, California and injuring his 73-year-old wife.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the northbound motorhome went into the median near the community of Glen around 3 p.m. Tuesday. It traveled a long distance in the median before going down a slope toward the river. The vehicle hit an embankment and came to rest on its top in the river.

The Montana Standard reports the woman was taken to a hospital in Missoula. Her condition was not available Wednesday.

Officials have not released the name of the victim.
