A 42-year-old Browning man has been sent to prison for more than four years after assaulting his partner in April.

Ralph Kelly Gallineaux, Sr. was sentenced to 51 months in prison and three years supervised release by Judge Brian M. Morris in U.S. District Court in Great Falls on Oct. 2. The man was also ordered to pay more than $6,800 in restitution for setting the victim’s truck on fire with a blow torch.

According to court records, Gallineaux and his partner got into a physical fight at a residence in Browning. Over the course of three hours, Gallineaux assaulted, strangled and tried to smother the victim. At one point, Gallineaux said he was “not scared” of killing someone. Gallineaux later threw a blow torch into the woman’s vehicle, setting it on fire.

The woman eventually ran to the hospital for help. The victim reported that Gallineaux had previously assaulted her in 2018.
