Ronan Man Arrested After Fatal Shooting

78-year-old James S. Deaton remains in jail under suspicion of homicide

A 78-year-old Ronan man was arrested on Oct. 8 under suspicion of homicide, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded to a report of an accidental shooting on Parizeau Ln. at about 4 p.m. Upon arrival, it was determined that Jim E. Lewis, 65 and also of Ronan, had been shot and killed by James S. Deaton.

The men live in the same residence, according to the Sheriff’s Office, and the shooting took place indoors.

An investigation is ongoing. Deaton remains in Lake County Jail.
