A 43-year-old Wisconsin man hiking with his family collapsed and died on the Siyeh Pass Trail in Glacier National Park on Monday afternoon.

According to a press release, park employees arrived to find the man unresponsive, with other hikers and the man’s stepson performing CPR. Rangers later used an automatic external defibrillator (AED) in an unsuccessful attempt to resuscitate the victim. The man had collapsed approximately one mile from the trailhead at Siyeh Bend, about two miles east of Logan Pass on Going-to-the-Sun Road.

The Glacier County Coroner reported the man’s death appeared to be due to natural causes.
