Our elected officials should always be searching for ways to make it easier for working folks to keep more of our hard-earned money. But unfortunately, we often see just the opposite – politicians who work harder for their wealthy donors than they do for us.
I’m proud that we have Gov. Steve Bullock serving here in Montana, because he is one of the rare public officials that always puts working people first. One of Bullock’s best moves as our governor was working with the Republican Legislature to pass the state’s first ever earned income tax credit.
The earned income tax credit provided relief for our middle- and working-class families, helping them keep more of what they earn. Working as an AARP volunteer tax preparer in Polson enabled me to see first hand Montanans that the earned income tax credit was designed to help. They needed the tax relief, and I’m sure had a good use for the extra money. Working Montanans are the backbone of our state’s economy, and I am glad we have a governor who has never forgotten that.
I know he won’t forget it when we elect him our next senator, either. Vote for Governor Steve Bullock.
