Support Powers for House District 3

Debo believes strongly in public service

By Flannery Coats

Whenever I chat with my neighbors of House District 3, at the grocery store or on a trail picking huckleberries, I can’t help but mention that Rep. Debo Powers is the right choice for the Montana State Legislature. Helena needs more legislators who are equipped and willing to roll up their sleeves, reach across the aisle, and deliver for their constituents. Debo is that legislator. Debo has decades of experience in the public sector as a public-school educator and principal, and recently as your representative in HD3. Personally, I know Debo as a community leader and organizer, an empathetic listener, a dance instructor, a fierce advocate for public lands, and most importantly, as a mentor. For the past decade, she has been a major leader in the North Fork community. This spring, while facing the many challenges of community organizing imposed by the first stay-at-home order in my lifetime, she provided an online format for residents to discuss serious local concerns with the Forest Service District Ranger. Over 50 residents participated in the 90-minute question and answer session. She followed up by facilitating a smaller group meeting with the Forest Service to iron out the fine details into completion.

Debo believes strongly in public service, and that the job of a legislator is to listen and reflect the needs of constituents. She is from a military family and deeply understands the sacrifice of veterans, active service members, and their families. Debo is experienced, tough, and principled and has earned my vote in the November election.

When you receive your ballot this fall, please join me in supporting Debo Powers for HD3.
