President Donald Trump Wins Montana

The Republican incumbent defeated Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden

BILLINGS – President Donald Trump has captured Montana and the state’s three electoral votes.

The Republican incumbent defeated Democratic former Vice President Joe Biden.

Trump took the state by 20 percentage points in 2016. GOP officials in Montana who were initially lukewarm to the flamboyant former real estate developer have lined up reliably behind him ever since.

Trump had indicated he would campaign in the Treasure State for Sen. Steve Daines. That didn’t happen when the president was forced to play defense against Biden in battleground states and got sidelined temporarily by the coronavirus.

Barack Obama lost Montana narrowly in the 2008 presidential election, and then lost by a wider margin in 2012. Biden did not campaign in the state this election.
