WHITEFISH – State game wardens in the Flathead Valley are looking for poachers they say killed eight deer in the Whitefish area in a period of two weeks.
Fish, Wildlife and Parks warden Chris Crane says that officials believe the same people are responsible for all the incidents, which happened southeast of Whitefish and west of the city during the first two weeks in August.
Crane says most of the deer were shot and left where they fell, while the heads of a couple were taken.
Crane says the poachers are using a small caliber rifle and driving a light-colored car or truck.
