MISSOULA — Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson appears to be in game form after passing for 119 yards and a touchdown in a weekend scrimmage.
Griz coach Mick Delaney says Johnson managed the team well during his three series on Sunday. He completed 8 of 10 passes and hit Jordan Harper on a 22-yard scoring pass. Johnson also connected with a diving Cam Warren for a 51-yard gain.
Johnson missed the 2012 season while facing a rape charge. He was acquitted in March.
Delaney says he’s pleased that the offense converted on four third-and-longs, but wasn’t happy that the defense allowed them to do it.
Travon Van scored on a 6-yard run and Jordan Canada scored on a 2-yarder. The final touchdown was a 45-yard return by Connor Strahm after intercepting Brady Gustafson, one of three competing for the backup QB spot.
Montana’s three kickers went a combined 5-of-11 on field goal attempts, an effort Delaney called “atrocious.”
