MISSOULA — Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson and Griz safety Matt Hermanson are among five athletes honored as Big Sky Conference football players of the week.

Johnson, a senior from Eugene, Oregon, passed for 313 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another 80 yards in No. 13 Montana’s 34-7 win over No. 12 Montana State in the 114th meeting of the two rivals.

Hermanson, a senior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, intercepted Montana State quarterback Jake Bleskin three times, becoming the first Big Sky player since 2009 to intercept three passes in a game. Hermanson also tallied eight tackles and broke up a pass in Montana’s must-win game to advance to the FCS playoffs.

Idaho State running back Daniel McSurdy shared offensive honors with Johnson while Eastern Washington returner Shaq Hill and North Dakota kicker Reid Taubenheim shared special teams honors.
