Flathead Edges Glacier in First Crosstown Volleyball Matchup

Bravettes drop first set, recover to take down Wolfpack in five

By Andy Viano

Taylor Henley put down 16 kills and added eight blocks to lead Flathead High School to a five-set win on its home court over crosstown rival Glacier on Sept. 13.

Henley led all players in both statistics in the match, helping the Bravettes recover from a loss in the first set to win 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, 18-25, 15-9. Flathead (4-3, 2-0 Western AA) had an impressive day defensively, piling up 16 blocks as a team and holding Glacier’s middle-hitter duo of Kali Guilck and Aubrey Rademacher in check. Second-year coach Nicole Fairclough praised not just her team’s block but a strong service game that kept the Wolfpack out of rhythm.

“They move both Kali and Aubrey around quite a bit, so that is challenging, but our goal was to serve them really tough and I thought we did a good job of that, which forced them out of their system,” she said.

Sierra Wilhelm led all players with four aces and had all 40 of Flathead’s assists. Madde Boles chipped in 15 digs.

Rademacher led Glacier (3-4, 1-1) with 13 kills, while Guilick had five blocks. Kacey Hill had a match-high 19 digs and Kaylee Fritz handed out 38 assists.
