Plowing Under Way in Glacier National Park

By Beacon Staff

WEST GLACIER – Glacier National Park road crews have begun spring plowing, but park officials say the entire Going-to-the-Sun Road won’t be open until mid-June.

Park crews began plowing in Apgar Village near West Glacier and on Chief Mountain road near the park’s northeast corner on March 16. Plowing of other east side park roads will begin once that work is done.

Glacier officials say the earliest the Going-to-the-Sun Road will be open over Logan Pass for two-way traffic is June 18 to give crews time to continue road repair work without vehicle interruption. The highway’s opening, as always, depends on the weather.
