Bison Range Restoration Ceremony

The Salish and Kootenai peoples celebrated the return of the Bison Range to the stewardship of the tribes through ceremonies and festivities in Moiese on the Flathead Indian Reservation from May 20-22, 2022. The 18,800-acre nature preserve, home to a herd of about 450 bison and a wealth of other species, was previously federally owned and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for more than a century.
