The Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup, the oldest and one of the most iconic existing trophies in professional sports, made an appearance in Whitefish on Dec. 29, 2023. Hundreds of hockey fans formed a long line through the Base Lodge at Whitefish Mountain Resort for an opportunity to view and be photographed with the gleaming championship chalice. The cup is awarded annually to the winning National Hockey League team. Fans exhibited a range of reverence for the award — some dared not lay a finger on the cup out of superstition, while others wholeheartedly planted their lips on the polished silver. Winner’s of this year’s cup, the Vegas Golden Knights, sent the trophy to Whitefish. Both the Knights and Whitefish Mountain Resort are a part of the Foley Entertainment Group.
