State’s Democratic Party Director to Step Down

Bryan Watt says Andrea Marcoccio's last day as executive director will be Feb. 13

HELENA — A spokesman for the Montana Democratic Party says its executive director is stepping down.

Bryan Watt says Andrea Marcoccio’s last day as executive director will be Feb. 13.

Marcoccio took the position in April 2013 to guide efforts during the 2014 election cycle. Democrats took some hits in the November elections, most notably in losing the U.S. Senate seat the party had held for more than a century.

Party Chair Jim Larson said in a statement that Marcoccio brought a tenacity and drive to the party that will be missed. Watt declined to say why Marcoccio is resigning and she didn’t immediately return a message from The Associated Press.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Director Lauren Caldwell will serve as the interim director of the party.
