Thirty-seven runners from Montana, including the governor, completed the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock ran the 26.2 miles Monday in 3 hours 40 minutes 44 seconds.

The Great Falls Tribune reports this was Bullock’s fourth time running the Boston Marathon and his 14th marathon overall.

Bullock, 49, told the Great Falls Tribune a friend offered him a bib for the Boston Marathon this year. He says he couldn’t refuse even though he hadn’t trained as much as he would have liked with the Legislature in session.

He turned down an entry offered for the Boston Marathon due to a lack of training two years ago when a bombing killed three people and injured more than 260.

Richard Briles of Kalispell had one of the top times among Montana runners. The 60-year-old finished the 26.2 miles in 3:20:10. Jennifer Flink of Kalispell finished the race in 4:32:16.

More than 30,000 people participated in the iconic race, which began in the town of Hopkinton and finished in the heart of the city. It was the 119th annual event.

Lelisa Desis of Ethiopia was the top overall finisher for the second time, finishing in 2:09:17.

Caroline Rotich of Kenya was the top female finisher, 2:24:55.
