Carol Atkinson was selected last week to fill a vacant seat on the Whitefish School District board of trustees.
The school board selected Atkinson, a longtime community leader who has served on several volunteer boards, among eight candidates who applied for the position.
Atkinson will fill a vacancy left by Pat Jarvi, a longtime board member and former school librarian who passed away June 3. She was 72.
Atkinson will serve until the next school election in May 2016.
