Joe’s journey continues through the minor leagues.

Joe Pistorese, a left-handed pitcher from Kalispell, was sent to the Clinton LumberKings, a Class A minor-league affiliate of the Seattle Mariners in Clinton, Iowa. Pistorese was designated June 1 from extended spring training to Iowa.

The 23-year-old former Flathead High standout is currently inactive and is returning from a suspension from last season.

The LumberKings are a Midwest League team with a long list of notable alumni, including World Series MVP and Cy Young Award Winner Orel Hershiser.

The LumberKings, whose season began in April, are 31-27 and in third place in the Western division.

Pistorese was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 17th-round of last year’s MLB draft and went 6-0 with a 1.28 ERA at Class A Everett before being suspended 50 games for a positive drug test. Pistorese has said the failed test was a misunderstanding and the result of taking a prescribed drug to treat an attention disorder.
