Bigfork school officials are welcoming the public to attend a community tour of the high school, which is undergoing a major renovation.

The public event is Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m. at the high school. School leaders will provide an update on $14 million multi-year makeover of Bigfork High School. An estimated 30,000 square feet of new space will be built onto the existing building. Other spaces will be renovated and upgraded to modern safety standards. The school was able to add an additional 6,000 square feet, which will include building a multi-use room that could host community events

“We’d like to show the community the progress we’ve already made and explain what the upcoming progress will look like,” Matt Jensen, Bigfork schools superintendent, said.

Jensen said Hammerquist Casalegno is ahead of schedule on the project and is expected to complete the construction of eight new classrooms by Christmas break. The remainder of the renovation is slated to be completed by winter 2017.

Correction: The entire renovation is expected to be completed by winter 2017, not the end of next summer as was previously stated.
