The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of an unidentified body along the Flathead River this week.

Sheriff Chuck Curry said the body of an adult female was discovered Tuesday evening on the banks of the Flathead River near Columbia Falls, just south of the Teakettle Fishing Access.

The body has been sent to the Montana State Crime Lab for an autopsy and identification.

This is the third body that has been found in the Flathead River this spring.

The body of Anthony Walthers was discovered on May 29. Authorities say Walthers was the victim of an April 26 homicide. The body of Dacia Finch of Kalispell was also found last month in the river near the Sportsman’s Bridge. The crime lab determined the cause of death to be drowning.
