Columbia Falls Lights Up

By Beacon Staff

This evening at 630pm, Nucleus Avenue in Columbia Falls will be the scene of our annual Night of Lights Christmas parade.

You’ll see Old Glory start the parade (don’t forget to remove your hat as it passes by). There will be crafts and such at the Columbia Falls Senior Center, espresso in several roadside stands, snacks here and there, and hopefully, a few retailers who open up after the parade and do a little business. You’ll see new cars, old cars, floats, probably some cheerleaders or Cub Scouts, and maybe a horse or two. No matter how young or not so young, it’s always a fun time.

Finally, Santa will roll into town for a brief visit thanks to the escort of the Columbia Falls Fire Department. After the parade, Santa will visit with your young uns at Moving Edge Fitness Center (just south of the Senior Center, right next to the North Valley Community Center). I suspect Santa will be working hard to make sure he has the right items written down for his next visit just a few short weeks away.

Of course, all of this excitement will be emcee’d by the always entertaining Carl Skindingsrude, who will undoubtedly have another great costume on for the evening.

No doubt it’ll be colder than you think on Nucleus, so bundle up and come out and join the whole town. Wave to your friends in the parade, make some new ones and grab some candy from the parade participants.

After the parade, check out the lights and other decorations in Marentette Park.

See you there!
