A Polson man accused of killing his father is charged with murder in Flathead County.
Flathead authorities filed the charge against 20-year-old Ross E. Johnson on Thursday. Authorities expect dismissal of a Sanders County murder charge filed earlier against Johnson in connection with the death of his father, Roger Johnson.
Authorities say GPS mapping showed the father died just inside the Flathead County boundary, not in Sanders County as investigators initially believed.
Ross Johnson is accused of shooting his father Aug. 30 in the woods 45 miles west of Kalispell.
The young man was arrested at the family home in Polson on Sept. 1 after a two-day, armed standoff with law enforcement officers. No one was injured in the standoff.
