Glacier High School nearly had a clean sweep at Kalispell’s annual Archie Roe Invitational over the weekend. The Wolfpack boys took first place and the girls took second at the 17-school event, which is one of the largest track meets in the state. The boys scored 108 points to edge out Missoula Big Sky, while the girls scored 82 to finish behind Missoula Big Sky’s 126.
Ben Cutler, a senior at Glacier, was the only two-event winner at the meet, taking titles in the 200 (22.86) and the 400 (50.44). Flathead Valley schools also swept every other running event except for the 100 – Jesse Bennett of Flathead won the 800, Whitefish’s Drew Coco won the 1,600 and Glacier’s Dan Burfeind won the 3,200.
For girls, Bigfork’s Kayla Carlson continued her dominance in the 1,600, winning the event with a time of 5:28.25. She also finished second in the 3,200. Lexy Boschee, a freshman at Glacier, once again claimed a victory in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 4 inches.
