HELENA – The state Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks will negotiate to acquire property along the Whitefish River about five miles north of Kalispell.
The agency’s commissioners on Thursday supported moving forward with talks.
A man planning his estate has offered to donate 10 acres of land to the department. The land will include a 3- to 5-acre pond excavated by a gravel operation. It could be up to five years before the gravel operation is complete. FWP says the pond could provide opportunities for fishing.
The land is next to several large subdivisions.
