Four Black Bears Killed Near Glacier Lodge

By Beacon Staff

Four young black bears have been killed in recent weeks after trying to get into garbage containers near the St. Mary Lodge and Resort, on the edge of Glacier National Park.

Johnny Noe, one of the lodge owners, says a lodge employee shot two bears as they charged him at the dump site. The males were 2 and 3 years old.

Lady Friday, the Blackfeet Fish and Wildlife Department captured one bear in a culvert trap near the dump and shot it.

Another bear was previously captured and killed by the tribal wildlife department.
